From Bulldog to Hokie to Dragon

Monday I went and picked up my books, student ID, and stuff at Howard Community College. Going there makes me feel a little bit more like I am “going back to school” than going to the Laurel College Center did, although it all boils down to the same thing. It’s like a real campus! With […]

That’s Right.

Acting like an adult reaps its damn benefits. That’s 3 prereqs down, and 2 to go. If I so choose, I’ll be applied and accepted or waitlisted (since I’m out of county) at HCC Nursing school by this time next year.

HALLELUJAH! Finals are over.

And lo there was a rejoicing!! Our rude professor is now merely a figment of our memories! And, supposedly, I have learned the things I need to know about the various systems of the body. So to celebrate, I went to the Staples. And bought fountain pen refills. For the Parker Vector I found abandoned, […]

School Update

School report: It’s all over but the very quiet sweating and scan-tron bubble filling in. We had our last lab and lecture. We got to (heh) fill out our course evaluations. That took everyone quite a while. I am trying to let go and be relaxed about the end product. I do want an A […]

Chemistry Stories

So. I made it to the Howard County Community College advising hours, and after looking at my unofficial transcripts, they OKed me for either or both of the remaining classes I need. The A Game

We had the lab practical last night. Alongside it came the torrent of complaints. The one that was most surprising to me was “I don’t think this is testing me on anything I learned.” Well, I guess that one must be true. -.- There were some tricky questions… how was I supposed to know that […]

We did get a new professor last week. I think he got a taste of why we can’t keep a professor… we all spent a good hour hashing out the situation. Whiners whined, and I got called out as some kind of jackass, once I tried to get things straight. I am holding out a […]

A&P II, Interrupted

We still don’t have a permanent professor. It’s been 3 class sessions with either no teacher or a sub, and 3 class sessions with no lecture to speak of; maybe I’d call it 4 since one of the subs was a little lost. This is pretty tough for me, feeling a little rudderless in a […]

I had a lovely weekend last weekend, even though everything was all about my future career and not necessarily about living in the moment. The main thing I had planned this weekend was a trip to Johns Hopkins, where they were having an open house for prospective nursing students. Let me tell you… this was […]
