Heathenfest at Jaxx in November!

Filed under Music by at 10:54 am on Aug 26 2009

Heathenfest09_11x17Just announced over at metalsucks.net, folk metal fans have a kick ass show coming to tide us over between Paganfests! Who knows – maybe this one will top Paganfest. So practice your own renditions of Wenches & Mead, because Alestorm is coming. Actually, while I enjoy the over-the-top pirate metal scene as much as the next gal, I am really looking forward to seeing Eluveitie.

So who’s in?

Other shows I am going to in the coming months:

Obviously ProgDay is coming up over labor day weekend. I can’t tell you how much crap I’ve taken about going out of town on labor day weekend. I understand that this is when many people plan get-togethers! But ProgDay is tied for the number one spot for “best thing I do all year” and I like it, to paraphrase Knocked Up, as much as kids like bubbles. Since I’m going alone again, I’m thinking about setting up a cooler full of beer with a sign that says “talk to me and I’ll give you a beer”. That couldn’t possibly backfire, could it?

Then Sept 10th I will probably check out Iris Divine with another Progression of Metal lineup at Jaxx. I emailed with Iris Divine and I think I will even be able to take the fancy camera to this one, so we’ll see if I can get any good pictures at all inside Jaxx with my meager skillset.

Later in September I’ll be going to see Porcupine Tree at RHL… soloing that one too, in case any readers out there are curious and want to join me, it’s not sold out yet!

In October we have Dragonforce and Sonata Arctica at RHL. I think I talked Maria into going with me to that one! Yay!

I am interested in the Porcupine Tree show! Though as you know I can’t plan that far ahead, but as it approaches, I’ll touch base with you again.

I am currently hoping there is an opening band because according to my schedule, that will be the first night of the Nutrition class I signed up for at HCC!! DOH!

Ha ha I suck at following Actual Blogs! But seriously, I’m so into going. (Sad!: Korpiklaani only did the EU leg of the tour)

I don’t know what’s going on with this! Argh. I ordered two tickets a month ago and they never sent them. And I don’t know who else is getting tickets to come along – it doesn’t seem to be sold out though! Maybe they just haven’t printed tickets yet. God, I hate TB!

Sweet!! Find me there and say hi! I don’t know if I am going to get dinner at the Ram’s Head restaurant beforehand or what.

Yes, I am still up for going! I forgot the date though and for some dumb reason it’s not in my schedule book, so if you could update me that’d be awesome.

Aaand I just noticed that there was a link for the show with date in your post. Brain in process of rebooting.

Also it was in my schedule book but with an inadequate description. Updated now.

Woo! I have the 2 tix. If you need to get more don’t forget! We’ll have to do more logistics planning as the time approaches.

Your devotion to live music is absolutely inspirational! I can’t wait for the reviews and fancy photos.

lol, I’m seeing the tours that you aren’t seeing. Alestorm are a band that are still only learning to deal with fame they make really good albums but are highly unprofessional live so I’d only go to Heathenfest for Vried,b ut they’re opening so they’ll only get 20 minutes max.

Dragonforce suck live so I’m skipping them.

Tours that I’m seeing later this year… Mastodon, Hypocrisy + Blackguard, and Marduk. Possibly Salome.

Yeah, I’m totally not going to see Dragonforce, it’s really all about Sonata Arctica although I’ll probably stick around to see at least some of Dragonforce just so I can say that I saw for myself that they sucked.

I am like, one of the two people on earth that can’t get into Mastodon. Soccer moms are listening to Mastodon and I’m just still sitting here going “I don’t get it”.

I might go catch that Hypocrisy + Blackguard etc tour, but it depends on how burned out I am at that point with other shit.

I’d be all about seeing Children of Bodom as you mention on your site but they appear to not be coming to me, and more road trips this year is just not happening. Damn.

Thanks for stopping by to comment. :)
